UNITRANS TAKES ANOTHER GOLD

Unitrans is proud to announce that it won another Gold Award at the Logistics Achievers Awards ceremony held at the Sandton Convention Centre on 15 October 2009. This brings the total of Gold Awards received since 2004 to five, in addition to three Silver Awards and one Bronze Award. This year’s entry, “Safety : My Choice”, which took the Gold Award was submitted by Klipstone Transport (Pty) Ltd.
About the awards
These prestigious awards are co-ordinated and hosted annually by Logistics News. Companies and organisations in southern Africa are encouraged to review, evaluate and upgrade their current logistics and supply chain management practices. The LAA also create a greater awareness and understanding of the value of effective logistics and supply chain management.
Since its first LAA in 2004, Unitrans has been recognised several times by the logistics industry:
- 2004 Gold Award winner for the Unitrans/Gold Fields project for ‘excellence in logistics’.
- 2004 Silver Award winner with its partner African Explosives for ‘excellence in logistics’.
- 2005 Silver Award winner for the Unitrans/OPSI Systems/NPC project for ‘excellence in distribution strategy’
- 2006 Gold Award winner, in conjunction with its partner African Explosives for ‘excellence in distribution strategy’.
- 2006 Silver Award winner for the Unitrans/Royal Swazi Sugar Corporation partnership, citing ‘outstanding achievement in materials management and optimisation’.
- 2006 Bronze Award winner for the Unitrans/Mittal solution, recognising ‘value creation beyond outsourcing’.
- 2007 Gold Award winner for Unitrans Sugar and Agriculture’s Açurareira de Moçambique operation at Mafambisse in Mozambique.
- 2007 Silver Award winner for the Unitrans/BPcontract in Durban at River Horse Valley, for ‘outstanding achievement in logistics in distribution network, management and optimisation’
- 2008 Gold Award winner for the Gold Fields Unitrans Surface Logistics Optimisation
These significant achievements confirm the group’s alignment with professionalism and excellence in the effective application of strategic, tactical and operational logistics and supply chain management principles, concepts and practices in southern Africa.
